Ok, I’ll admit it. I have a thing for mobiles. And ever since I figured out how they work, I haven’t been able to stop trying new styles, shapes, and colors to create mobiles of my own.
Here’s a cute paper squirrel mobile that’s quick & easy to make using an embroidery hoop, construction paper, and a few basic craft supplies.
Materials
- Embroidery hoop
- Construction paper
- Scrapbook paper
- Adhesive foam
- Wire
- Scissors
- Paper knife
- Cutting mat
Step 1
Place the construction paper in between the rims of the embroidery hoop, using blue paper for the sky and green paper for the grass. Secure the paper using pressure from the rim of the embroidery hoop.
Step 2
Flip the embroidery hoop over and cut shapes for the sky and grass using your paper knife and cutting mat. It’s a freestyle cutting—get creative!
Step 3
Cut the scrapbook paper into the shape of a squirrel. You’ll need to cut it out twice so that you’ll have a squirrel for each side. Stick the two paper squirrel cut-outs together by placing a piece of adhesive foam in the middle.
Step 4
Cut a small piece of wire and cross the paper squirrel through the adhesive foam. Make a small hole at the top of the embroidery hoop for the wire.
That’s it! Now it’s ready to hang as a mobile or a small decorative frame on your wall.
Happy crafting!
