The perfect trick-or-treating companions!
What You Need
- A small vending machine plastic capsule
- Modge Podge*
- Orange Tissue or Crepe Paper
- Black Ribbon
- Scissors
- Black Permanent Pen
- Duct Tape, optional
- Optional: Fake fur fabric, felt or paper.
- LED tea light or Glow Stick
- Paint Brush
* We worked with Modge Podge for the special shiny coat it creates but, you can use all traditional craft glues will work.
How-To
Step 1
To get started, apply Modge Podge with a brush to the outside of your plastic canister.
Step 2
Once you’ve covered the canister with Modge Podge, press orange tissue paper over the canister to coat. When the entire canister has been cover, let dry.
Step 3
Once dry, poke a hole in the middle of the top of the lid with a scissors. This hole should be big enough to draw a ribbon through but, small enough to hold a knot.
To add the ribbon necklace, fold the ribbon in half and insert the folded end into the hole on top of the pumpkin. Knot the folded ribbon inside the capsule, as well as the loose ribbon ends.
Step 4
It’s time to decorate your pumpkin!
Draw directly on the dry container with a pen, such as a black Sharpie, or cut shapes from duct tape, to decorate. We, additionally, cut must aches from fake fur fabric. You could do the same with fake fur, felt, tape or paper. Glue these on to hold.
When the jack-o-lantern has been decorated, it’s time to illuminate.
Step 5
To illuminate:
When your littles are ready to use these as flash lights, open the canister and light. You can use either a 1. LED Tea Lights or 2. A Glow Stick.
These necklaces illuminate with both but, if you use LED lights these can be use repeatedly and I think these pumpkins are fun to have lit the full month.
Step 6
Go have fun!
