I am a list maker and constantly grab small pieces of paper to jot down my latest list, be it with words or pictures. My 9-year-old sister loves paper and lists as much as I do, so rather than fight over the latest cute pad of paper, it was time to make our own.
You can buy padding compound designed for making tear-off notepads, but you’d probably need several lifetimes to go through a whole jar. Instead, you can use craft glue (like Aleene’s Tacky Glue) to craft a pad of paper, and with this printable, it will look like a happy little candy shop!
what you need
- Printable Candy Shop Notepad template (download here)
- Paper and card stock
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Strong clips, such as bull dog, wire spring or binder clips
- Paper cutter (optional, but helpful!)
Step 1
Print page 2 of the Candy Shop Notepad template onto paper. This will make up the pages of your notepad, so print 5 or 6 copies. Cut the paper along the trim lines at the edges. A paper cutter makes this easier and more accurate.
If you’d rather, you can use plain paper cut into six equal pieces (25/6 x 51/2 inches).
Step 2
Print page 1 of the Candy Shop Notepad template onto card stock. Choose one of the shop awnings for your notepad and cut it out. Save the rest for making more notepads, because you know you’ll want a bunch!
Step 3
Hold all of the notepad pages together and tap the edges on a table to make sure they’re as straight as possible. Add the awning at the front and hold it tight. Now, run a thick bead of glue along the top edge, smoothing it out using the tip of the glue bottle.
Step 4
Clamp the clip or clips onto the notepad to keep the top of the pages held closely together as the glue dries.
Step 5
As the glue dries it will start to shrink, become almost clear, and look a bit like plastic. It’s easier to see on this blue paper.
Step 6
Once the glue is completely dry you can remove the clips and use your notepad for doodles, lists, or happy notes to give your friends!
Happy crafting!
