Dinosaurs…now there’s an interesting subject. Allosaurus, Baryonyx, Ceratosaurus, Diplodocus…I wonder, did you realize how much paleontological knowledge you’d need to acquire as a parent? My eldest son, Dylan, was fascinated by dinos until he was in his early teens. We’ve been to all the museums and dinosaur parks, been digging for bones, watched films, and even learned a few dinosaur cries over the years. Never a dull dinosaur moment in our house!
Of course, dinosaurs are a very popular theme in the children’s interior design world. Admittedly feeling a tad nostalgic, as Dylan turns 18, I was curious to see what fun dino decorations are out there now. I hope you enjoy my finds.
Life Size Tyrannosaurus Rex Footprint Sticker
Available for $32 from Lauren Moriarty & Co
Wall stickers are a quick way to add some prehistoric creatures to a child’s room. This giant T-Rex footprint sticker would make a super cool wall feature, and extra footprints and colorways are available. Other personal favorites include this pack from Spin Collective and this set from Chocovenyl on Etsy.
Chalkboard Wall Stickers
Available for $144 from Snuggledust Studios
Snuggledust Studios has a great selection of dinosaur wall stickers, including these chalkboard alphabet wall stickers designed for early learning. A fun way for kids to practice their ABCs, and the eco-friendly vinyls can be applied to any smooth surface (a door perhaps?).
Colorful Wooden Dinosaur Wall Art
Available for $87 from Slippin Southern on Etsy
Gregory Morris has a way with wood. His bright dino wall decorations (four models in different sizes) would make a nice alternative to stickers, and I am really smitten with his wooden footprints too.
Magnetic Dino Wallpaper
Available for $412 (per 10m) from Sian Zeng
Sian Zeng is a magician! I love her imagination and quirky creative world! I’m sure many of you will already have seen her new range of interactive, magnetic dino wallpapers with movable character pieces. What fun little (and big!) ones must have creating their own dino story with the cast of dino and fly copter magnets and speech bubbles. The pattern comes in six colorways, and is also available as wallpaper without the magnetic receptive liner.
D’Ya-Think-E-saurus Dinosaur Wallpaper
Available for $100 (per 10 M) from PaperBoy Wallpaper
If you are looking for something more traditional, but still very eye-catching and original, the British company PaperBoy Wallpaper has a great “ D’ya-think-e-saurus” wallpaper range in four colorways. I like this fresh chalky white and sparkly silver combo, but there’s something for everyone, and I love the fact that PaperBoy specializes in decorating boys’ rooms.
Playing Dinos at Villa Wienberg
Via StyleJuicer
What a familiar scene this is! It reminds me of hours of fun playing with toy dinosaurs, and I think this image shows how striking a collection of dino toys can look on display in a child’s room. Thanks to StyleJuicer for sharing Villa Wienberg, a family residence in Aarhus, Denmark ,created by Wienberg Architects and Friis & Moltke.
Pictured at the top of this post: Here’s a lovely dino wall sticker from Louis Le Sec’s bedding lookbook.
