Here's a fun + simple technique to dye Easter egg patterns using rubber cement.

Easter is well on its way! If you are like me, you’re always looking for fun new ways to decorate and dye all of those eggs. I love adding patterns to my eggs and I especially love letting the white show through the color of the dyes. This technique is a great project to do with older kids or to do yourself before the little ones dye them. The outcome is so fun!

Here's a fun + simple technique to dye Easter egg patterns using rubber cement.

What You Need

  • Boiled eggs
  • Egg dye
  • Rubber cement
  • Brushes

Step 1

After you boil your eggs and dry them off, using different brushes draw your patterns and designs onto the eggs. I used a small round sponge brush for the polka dots and the brush that came with the rubber cement to design the other two.

Step 2

Let the rubber cement dry completely before preparing and dyeing the eggs. Follow the directions that come with your dye to make sure the colors come out how they should.

Remove the eggs from the dye. Do you see how where you put the rubber cement didn’t get any dye? Awesome, right?

Step 4

Let the eggs dry completely and with clean and dry hands, gently rub the rubber cement sections to get the rubber cement off. You’ll get these little rubbery bits on your table. That means you’re getting it off! Once you have taken it all off, you’re done.
