May Day on May 1st is a holiday that carried the tradition of leaving a basket of flowers on a neighbor’s doorstep. Can you imagine the delight of finding such a surprise when you open your door? You don’t need a special day to gift your friends, family, or neighbors with a simple surprise. Print out these cone baskets to share a smile!
What You Need
- Printable Surprise Cones Template (download here)
- Card stock
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape or glue stick
- 1/8-inch hole punch
- Ribbon
Step 1
Choose a surprise cone from the PDF and print it onto heavy paper. Cut around the cone shape with scissors. For a neat and clean look, cut just inside the thin lines and right on the thick, curved line.
Step 2
Use double-sided tape or glue stick along the flap, then roll the paper into a cone shape.
Step 3
Punch a hole on each of two opposite sides of the cone.
Step 4
Cut two 10-inch pieces of ribbon. (If the ribbon you have is wider, just cut one piece.) Holding the two pieces together, tie a knot in one end. Push the other end through one of the holes in the cone, then through the other hole. Tie a knot in the second end of the ribbon to form the handle.
Step 5
Fill the cone with treats, then deliver to a friend as a special surprise! If you want to use heavier treats, card stock is a better choice for your surprise cone, because it will help it keep its shape better when hanging.
While a gift of treats is always fun, even the simplest of tissue paper flowers shows that you care!
Happy crafting!
