The best gifts from your kids are the ones that have the most heart, and that often involves the making of the gift itself. But no one needs to wear macaroni necklaces anymore. Not with these great crafts to get us going.
I tried to pick projects that dads could make without too much trouble or mad crafting skills. But also, I wanted projects that could include the kids. Whether it’s their actual finger prints, or picking out the photos to be used, these are projects where their opinions will count. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
Painted Totes
See the tutorial on Lilla a.
Though the original project included hand sewn bags, you can easily grab acrylic paints and canvas totes at the store. The key to keeping these beautiful is limiting the color palette to 1 or 2 colors!
Air Dry Clay Love Tokens
See the tutorial on Small for Big.
My daughter and I made these when she was barely 3 years old. They’re easy and fun to make – you just need to add a day for the clay to dry!
Mother’s Day Questionnaire
See the printable at The Crafting Chicks.
Kids answers to these kinds of questions are always so funny and endearing! I’m sending this to my husband, because it’s the easiest project of all. Just print, and complete together.
Mother’s Day Mugs
See the tutorial at Lauren Conrad.
We’ve all seen handpainted mugs before. But all you need to do to make it fresh and fancy is switch to a gold paint pen! Even if the youngest toddlers just scribbles on it, it will look amazing.
Fingerprint Pendant
See the tutorial at The Crafty Crow.
Beautiful necklaces made by kids are hard to come by, but I think this sweet fingerprint version would be an honor to wear. You could even jazz it up after you get it with a little tassle or a couple golden charms with their initials.
The Mom Book
See the project at Real Simple.
My daughter is always giving me lovely handmade cards and drawings, but they’re so hard to keep track of. I love the idea of a centralized book where kids can add messages or drawings on special holidays or whenever they feel like it.
Stamped Washer Necklace
See the tutorial at How to Raise A Mommy.
Now, the best part about this necklace is the supplies – dads can run to Harbor Freight to pick up the stamping letters set and the washers. They’ll feel right at home!
