Our family vacation to Colonial Williamsburg’s Revolutionary City ended up to be way more than we expected. The rich history was absolutely fascinating and the skilled craftsmen were truly inspiring.

As a family of makers, we were enamored by the thought of crafting and creating recipes from scratch as a necessity, not just a past time. The entire process, from start to finish, was all on display in Colonial Williamsburg’s Revolutionary City.

We spent a lot of time talking to the gardeners, merchants, and bread bakers and found a collection of handmade inspiration and tutorials for you to try at home. Happy crafting!

Knitter’s Paradise

My mother is an incredible knitter, so I’ve been around wool my entire life. The incredible selection of naturally dyed yarns from the Colonial Williamsburg merchants were exceptionally gorgeous. I picked up a few skeins for my mom and I’m hoping to get one of her magical handmade scarves :)

Heirloom Gardening

Gardening fans will completely flip out with Colonial Williamsburg gardens. The handmade trellises, garden sheds, and plants were sensational. The farmers working the grounds were very informative and answered all of our questions.
