And more importantly, we know there is no better way to make somebody else feel awesome than to bake them a special cake. So we’ve decided to take this delicious dessert-making hobby to an entirely new level and spread the awesomeness all around!

To really learn how to make the absolute best cake in the whole world, we signed up for Creative Bug’s Wilton Method of Cake Decorating work-along classes online. This 4-week foundational series walks you through the perfect chocolate cake, the best buttercream frosting, and then right into some really cool decorating techniques.

After watching Emily Tatak’s instructions, we were able to brush up on the fundamentals and take our baker status from cake novice to awesome deliciousness expert. With all of these new tips and tricks from Creative Bug, we were inspired to implement some of our own tasty typographic techniques to create The Super Fail-Proof Awesome Cake.

Step 1
Once you have followed Creative Bug’s instructions to bake your naked, layered chocolate cake, you are ready to add the awesomeness! Begin by downloading and printing The Awesome Cake Printable. Lay the printout over your sugar sheet and use your craft knife to cut out the letters.

Step 2
Carefully place the sugar sheet typography on your iced cake. Cut a small hole in your decorating bag and place the open star decorating tip inside. Fill your decorating bag with the colored buttercream frosting and use the sugar sheet as a template for applying the frosting. Repeat until the whole cake is covered in frosted awesomeness!
