Roses are red, violets are blue, a special Valentine’s Day craft, just for you!
We finally perfected our recipe for the greatest love potion ever. For weeks I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect ingredients. A hair from cupid, the reddest of roses, cups and cups of X’s and O’s. Something just always seemed to be missing. Turns out, the recipe for romance was in my craft closet all along! This top secret DIY Love Potion Bottle is a simple, fail-proof formula for falling in love.
For quick, easy decorating, we called upon the perfect pair: FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Paint and Handmade Charlotte Peel & Stick Stencils. Parents can use the paint to coat the bottle of their favorite old fashioned soda, then crafty little cupids can sweep in and use stencils to create their own custom labels. With hundreds of stencil designs and an endless selection of colors, personalizing the potion is easy enough for even the littlest of lovebirds.
What You Need
- FolkArt Home Decor Chalk paint
- Handmade Charlotte Peel & Stick Stencils
- Plaid Paint Daubers
- Plaid Sponge Brushes
- Craft knife
- 8.5″ x 11″ white card stock
- Metal straight edge
- Double-sided tape
- A bottled drink of your choice
- Love Potion Printable PDF
How-To
- Use your sponge brush to paint your bottle. Two coats should work. (Tip: We chose this retro soda bottle because it was perfectly smooth and flat, but any soda bottle will do!)
- While your bottle is drying, choose your Handmade Charlotte Peel & Stick stencil. Lay the stencil smoothly across your card stock so there are no air bubbles and use your dauber to apply paint to the stencil. We cut our soda label to 3.5″ x 8″, but dimensions may differ depending on the bottle you use.
- Next, download and print your Love Potion Printable PDF. Use your craft knife to cut out the label.
- Finally, use double-sided tape to fix the label across the top of the bottle.
Make several to serve up at a February 14th fiesta or just one to give to that certain special someone. Add a few straws and share a sweet soda for two.
