Summer is on its way! At this point in the year, I’m yearning for that rose-tinted-glasses version of summer. Or perhaps I should say watermelon-tinted? It’s the memories of a summer full of idyllic afternoons in my rattan swing with an ice cold lemonade and a good book, or swimming in the pool as a little girl. I tend to forget about that same girl’s boredom, the bugs, the sweat, etc. But that’s ok right? It’s better to think positive.
So let’s start the positive thinking on the brightest note possible – with some vibrant and juicy watermelon crafts. These will get you in the mood for sunshine, sunglasses, and a refreshing chunk of watermelon in no time. I’ll even put up with that sticky (but oh-so-tasty) juice running down our chins.
Watermelon Coasters

We just got a new table for our deck and these coasters (along with the tray pictured at the top) would be the most festive accessories. I’ve been craving a good DIY lately, anyway, so I plan to get started on this right away!
Watermelon Pom Poms
see tutorial at Mr. Printables
The pom poms over at Mr. Printables are out-of-this-world amazing. At first it made my head spin just trying to figure out how they were made (I mean look at them!), but luckily the tutorials take you through the craft step-by-step, and guess what – it’s super easy!
Watermelon Slice Umbrella
see tutorial at Studio DIY
Store bought umbrellas are so blah, am I right? How about making your own? Yep, making your own umbrella! This quick project shows just how simple it can be. My girl would die to have such a cool accessory to tote around town. And to be able to say that she made it for herself? She’ll be doing rain dances every day!
Watermelon Welcome Mat

Refreshing your Spring decor to transition into Summer is a big part of welcoming the new season. This watermelon mat seems like the perfect upgrade to me!
Watermelon Wrapping Paper
see tutorial at Inner Child Fun
Summer birthdays? Forget those silly party favors and premade papers. Create your own with the kids, instead! One-of-kind gifts are always more special to receive (and to make!).
