The holiday season is upon us and, in addition to good food, one thing that awaits us this season is good company! I love hosting others and making them feel at home in our space. What better way to make someone feel at home than by making sure they are provided with all of the bed and bath essentials they might need during their stay? Shampoo, conditioner, soap, a loofa, mouth wash, cotton balls, bottled water, and plenty of extra toilet paper.
So how about this: you kick it up a notch by aiming to make your guests’ stay an extraordinarily luxurious one with products they might not normally treat themselves to at home? Oh yes – peppermint sugar scrub, balsam fir bath salts and honey nutmeg whipped body butter! All of these bath time treats are loaded with tons of yummy vitamins for your skin, like avocado oil and vitamin E oil. And with scents that bring to mind visions of crisp winter walks followed by mugs of warm drinks shared around the fireplace, your guests are guaranteed to indulge in these little seasonal delights!
How to Make Peppermint Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup raw sugar
- A few drops of peppermint essential oil (6-8 drops should be sufficient)
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- A few drops of vitamin E oil
- Peppermint candy
Step 1
This one couldn’t be easier to make! Begin by pouring your sugar into a large mixing bowl.
Step 2
Add all 3 of your oils together, then mix together until evenly distributed. Note: You want your mixture to be a little damp, so if you need to add more avocado oil, then feel free to do so.
Step 3
Crush your peppermint candies as coarse or as fine as you desire. Sprinkle into your mixture, saving some to layer in at the very top of your jar.
Step 4
Transfer to a canister of your choice, then sprinkle a final layer of peppermint candy on top. Make sure your canister is air tight and stored at room temperature!
How to Make Balsam Fir Bath Salts
- 2 cups epsom salts
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 2 tsp. avocado oil
- A few drops of balsam fir essential oil (10-12 is a good amount)
Step 1
Similar to your sugar scrub, combine all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Step 2
Add your avocado oil and essential oil, then mix together until evenly distributed.
Step 3
Transfer to a canister of your choice. Make sure your canister is air tight and stored at room temperature!
How to Make Honey Nutmeg Body Butter
- 1 cup raw shea butter
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 avocado oil
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- A few drops of nutmeg essential oil
Step 1
Combine shea butter, coconut oil and avocado oil in a microwave safe bowl.
Step 2
Heat until the oils have melted together. Add your honey and essential oil, then stir together. Refrigerate until the liquid starts to solidify – this may take up to a few hours. You’ll want the mixture to closely resemble soft wax.
Step 3
Remove from the refrigerator and begin to whip, either with a standing mixer or a hand mixer, until peaks begin to form (like whipped butter). Using a spatula, transfer into a canister of your choosing. Make sure your canister is air tight and stored at room temperature!
Now you’re ready for any guests the holiday season may bring your way!
