Who doesn’t love decorating for the holiday season? Whether you’re chomping at the bit every year, come November 1, to pull out those twinkling lights or you’re a staunch believer of “no garland before November 26”, it always warms your insides a little bit to add some glitz and glimmer to your space.
One of my favorite ways to add pizazz to our home for the holiday season is by throwing a holiday party, and no holiday party is complete without a tablescape that will knock the socks off any house guest that comes through the door
With a little help from our friends at Michael’s, we put together a Nordic-inspired table scape with some silver accents to create a playful, yet elevated, presentation. Whether you’re serving a four course meal or just some pie, these place settings are sure to please. We’re going to show you how to recreate it, in just a few simple steps!
What You Need
- Flat wooden ornaments and wall hangings
- Acrylic paint and paintbrushes
- Mod Podge Extreme Glitter
- Glitter
- Clear charger plate and glassware
- Mod Podge Dishwasher-Safe Gloss
- Acrylic paint for enamel surfaces
- Handmade Charlotte Adhesive Stencils
How To Make a Coaster
Step 1
Begin by giving your ornament a base coat of acrylic paint, then set it aside the dry.
Step 2
Place your Handmade Charlotte stencil on the ornament and fill in the stencil with a contrasting color. Once the paint has dried, peal the stencil off and reuse as necessary. Use the stencils to create shapes that cover the majority of the surface area, then using a fine tip brush, freehand any details to help fill the space.
Step 3
Once you’re pleased with your design, take a fine tip paintbrush and paint over select areas with Mod Podge Extreme Glitter. While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle with a glitter of your choice. Once the glitter is firmly applied to the ornament, give the entire ornament a hearty coat of Mod Podge Extreme Glitter. Set aside and let dry.
How To Make a Charger
Step 1
With your flat wooden wreath, follow the same steps 1-3 as the coaster above.
Step 2
While the charger is drying, take your clear charger plate and apply your Handmade Charlotte stencils in desired pattern. Paint with acrylic paint specially formulated for enamel surfaces.
Step 3
Once the paint is dry, give your plate a good coat of Mod Podge Diswasher-Safe Gloss. Repeat steps 2 and 3 from this section for your glass cups.
Set your table and enjoy your time with friends and family!
