Paper lanterns are not just having a moment right now – they’ve been around for centuries and I truly think that they’re here to stay! They’re beautiful, they’re elevated, and they’re super versatile. Whether they’re being used to decorate a table scape, a wedding reception, or the corner of your child’s playroom, paper lanterns add an element of whimsy and fun to any occasion or space.
How do you add even more whimsy and fun to a paper lantern? Blow up the scale, baby! For the 3rd project in our Sizzix + Handmade Charlotte Craft Along Series, we made an extra large, EXTRA AWESOME paper lantern with a special added detail: embossing! This paper lantern has it all – patterned fabric, bright coral bands on the top and bottom, and extreme height to boot!
All you need for this project is several sheets of large watercolor paper (or other heavy weight paper), spray adhesive, fabric of your choice, cardstock of coordinating color, and your Sizzix Big Shot Plus. These lanterns are so beautiful by themselves, but they’re even more impactful grouped together – so go wild! Make as many as your heart desires!
Take a look at the video below to see the project broken down, step by step. Then head over to Sizzix to purchase the materials needed for this project.
