It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day! Do you wear a little extra green in your outfit to mark the occasion? A few extra lucky charms couldn’t hurt either! These giant Lucky Charm barrettes are so simple to make, and you likely already have all the supplies needed.
Wear all the barrettes at once, or give them out as party favors to spread the luck around. (P.S. They’d also make super cute fridge magnets, don’t you think?)
What You Need
- Crayola Model Magic
- Food coloring
- Scrap paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Bobby pins
- Tape
- Parchment paper
How-To
Step 1
Lay a piece of parchment paper down on your work surface. Grab a handful of Crayola Model Magic and add food coloring to change the color – wear gloves if you don’t want your hands to be dyed. Roll out flat until about ¼” thick.
Step 2
Draw and cut out Lucky Charms shapes onto paper, about 2” tall. I used this as a reference:
Step 3
Place your paper pattern onto the rolled Model Magic and use scissors to cut out the shape. The Model Magic is just tacky enough to hold the paper in place as you cut.
Step 4
Repeat and let dry.
Step 5
Use tape to attach a bobby pin onto the back of each Lucky Charm. I found the tape was strong enough to last the day, but if you want something more permanent, use a short piece of ribbon and glue instead.
Happy crafting!
