Making collages can be so much fun! I love using a variety of materials: magazine clippings, ribbons, bits of colored paper, and photographs are a few of my favorites. Even as a kid I loved making collages – I remember really enjoying the process of arranging and gluing all the paper scraps and then seeing how the project came together at the end.
For today’s project, I’ve made a printable template of a crocodile family to use as a starting point. Print the templates, and follow the brief instructions below for an afternoon of cut and pasting fun! My kids made a few crocodile collages themselves, and they really got into the process. Their faces were just glowing when they saw the final results!
What You Need
- Two sets of the Crocodile Collage Printable Templates (download here)
- Colored papers, magazines, etc
- Scissors and/or craft knife
- Glue
- Markers (optional)
How-To
Step 1
Take the two same printed crocodile shape: set one aside, but use scissors or a craft knife to carefully cut out the other from the paper, as shown below.
Step 2
Cut or rip your papers in various shapes and sizes. Glue the pieces over the crocodile shape. There are no rules, so have fun with this step!
Step 3
Let the collage dry.
Step 4
Glue the precut crocodile sheet over the collaged one. Let dry and voila! You can frame your art or hang directly on the wall.
