I remember loving lockets as a kid. There’s something so cool and almost magical about a necklace having a secret spot for notes and treasures! One of my favorite toys growing up was a plush puppy dog that had a hidden compartment on her tummy – does anyone else remember those? Today’s DIY locket necklace is just as fun!
I found these plastic teddy bear favors at the dollar store in the baby shower section. They were pretty cute as is (kind of like gummy bears!) but the gold paint keeps the treasures inside invisible to everyone else. What would you keep in your teddy bear locket?
What You Need
- Plastic teddy bear favors
- String/yarn/pom poms
- Scissors
- Spray paint
- Needle (optional)
How-To
Step 1
Spray paint the teddy bears gold and let dry.
Step 2
To make a tassel, wrap the yarn/cord around your four fingers several times. Carefully withdraw your fingers and then tie the wrap on one side. Trim the loops on the other end. Repeat in multiple colors.
Step 3
Thread your golden teddy bear onto the cord for your necklace.
Step 4
String the tassels, beads, and pom poms onto the necklace. Use a needle to pierce the pom poms.
Step 5
Tie off the necklace at the desired length. Repeat!
Happy crafting!
