Last week, we teamed up with Brittni of Paper & Stitch to try out Plaid’s latest invention: Ultra Dye. It was a happy mail day when they delivered our package of supplies and we called Brittni on the double. We’re long-time fans of her creative and design-focused projects, well-curated inspiration boards, and gorgeous tutorials. We’re so thrilled that she and her husband, Florida natives, recently moved to Atlanta.
We fell dip-dye deep in love with the vibrant jewel tones that poured from the rainbow colored bottles. The colors are so vibrant and magical, we couldn’t wait to get crafting!
Located inside a renovated telephone factory, the Paper & Stitch loft’s expansive white walls were the perfect backdrop to brainstorm and crack open some color.
We started the day by familiarizing ourselves with pre-mixed colors and made a few samples to play around with different application techniques. Brittni and I both loved that the Ultra Dye easily and richly covered any porous surface we tried, and immediately fell in love with the saturation of color.
It took us no time to get comfortable using the dye, so we sat right down and designed three projects to show off this amazing new craft supply. We were over the moon to be spending the day in such a rad studio with one of our favorite designers. Here are a few of the dreamy projects we created just for you.
Project 1: DIY Dyed Wall Weavings
Dress up your walls with these colorfully dyed pom pom wall weavings. A modern spin on traditional weavings, this simple DIY is the perfect afternoon project. Look out for the full tutorial on Handmade Charlotte next week!
Project 2: Dip Dyed Ring Holders
In this project, we’ll share how easy it is to dip-dye simple geometric shapes to use as ring and bracelet holders. The tutorial will be available on the Plaid Palette this Monday, August 8th—keep an eye out for it!
Project 3: Fruit Stamping With Ultra Dye
We chopped, diced, minced, and sliced a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, brushed Ultra Dye onto the organic shapes and stamped them onto a wooden canvas. The results were simply delicious! Jump over to Plaid Palette to see the full tutorial.
As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, we had a blast crafting the day away with Ultra Dye! We’re HUGE fans of bold color, so we loved experimenting and using this rainbow of colors in new and exciting ways. We’re so excited for you to see the fun projects we created! Thanks again to Brittni at Paper & Stitch for the wonderful day! We can’t wait to paint, dip-dye, and color block again soon :)
