When school supplies come out for the new school year, I have mixed emotions. Yes, summer is ending, but it’s also pretty exciting to get fresh notebooks, glue sticks, and of course, crayons. And whether you are labeling a new set of crayons so you know they’re yours or giving old crayons a new look, these printable wrappers are so much fun.

They come in a rainbow of colors and there are two types of wrappers. You can type a name or message on your crayons, make your art supplies look extra happy, or make some of each.

• Card stock
• Paper
• Unwrapped crayons
• Scissors
• Glue stick (doubled-sided tape also works)

Choose a page of the crayon wrapper file. One page can be customized and the other features cute faces to give your crayons personality.

If you are using the customizable page, click in each rounded rectangle to type a name or phrase.

Print the crayon wrappers on regular paper and cut out the pieces.

Glue the back of the first wrapper. It’s best to start with glue behind only the large white rectangle.

Start wrapping the piece around a crayon. Take care that it goes on straight. Add glue to the other half of the wrapper, getting the glue all the way to edges and corners.

Finish wrapping around the crayon and hold it for a moment so the glue has a chance to grip. If you find that it doesn’t want to stay, you can add a small tab of clear tape.

Now you have your first custom crayon and you can continue wrapping the rest of them. Just make sure that they all face the same way as you wrap them.

 

And if one crayon with your name on it is good, a whole rainbow of crayons is even better!

Once the crayons get gathered up, the wrappers often get a little messy and marked up. Which seems a shame, except that you can always print new ones if you want. Maybe with some silly sayings next time?

Custom labeled crayons are sure to bring smiles, but crayons with smiles just can’t miss. I mean, who can resist super cute faces like these?

You may have noticed that the printable wrappers are only in a bright rainbow, and not in any neutrals. Crayon boxes usually come with black, brown, white, gray, and more.

So what should you do? Brighten them up with other colors, of course! The silver crayon in the center is very happy to be wrapped up in teal!

 

You can use the customizable wrappers for more than just personalizing with a name. You could add some encouraging phrases to your child’s crayons, such as “You can do it!” or “You’re so creative!”

Let your child come up with their own fun color names for their crayons, like “monster fur,” “key lime pie,” or “summer fun sunshine.”

The wrappers are also perfect for creating small gifts or party favors. Just add a special message of thanks and then tie them in a clear plastic bag!
