What You Need
- Pipe cleaners
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Tape
- Bristol board
- Stapler (optional)
How-To
Step 1
Cut a 1” wide strip of bristol board that’s long enough to wrap around the wearers head. (This one was about 22” long.) Use a ruler and pencil to mark 3” increments all along the strip, leaving a 1” segment on one end.
Step 2
Cut the pipe cleaners into lengths: we used pink, orange and yellow for the rainbow but you can pick any 3 colors you like. Cut the pink pipe cleaners (outer stripe) into 6” pieces, the orange (middle stripe) into 4” pieces, and the yellow (inner stripe) into 3” pieces. This crown needed 7 pieces of each color, but this will depend on how long your strip of Bristol board is.
Step 3
Bend the pink pipe cleaners into semi-circles and tape onto the pencil marks from before.
Step 4
Do the same for the orange pipe cleaners, taping them just inside the pink ones.
Step 5
Finally, bend the yellow pipe cleaners too and tape inside the oranges ones.
Step 6
Use a stapler or tape to secure the two ends of the strip together, forming a crown.
Happy crafting!
