Celebrate Easter with these cheerful dancing friends – they’re sure to add a touch of spring to your home! Choose a tiny vase and fill it with fresh flowers, a scented candle, or an Easter egg and place it in the center of the animals’ dance circle. Kids will enjoy making these little guys spin around and dance in circles.
Both the bunny and chick dancers are super quick and fun to make. This is a great last-minute project to do this Easter weekend – just grab some pipe cleaners, paper, and beads and get crafting!
What You Need
- Printable template (download here)
- Pipe cleaners
- Wooden beads
- Crepe paper
- Colored paper
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Glue stick
How-To
Step 1
Take five (or more) wooden beads and thread them onto one pipe cleaner. Distribute the beads evenly, placing one bead every 1¾”, all along the pipe cleaner. Take another two pipe cleaners and bend them into three even segments, and then cut.
Step 2
Fold four of the small pipe cleaners in half. Place a folded pipe cleaner between each of the beads. Secure them in place by twisting the top loop in one direction and the bottom ends in the opposite direction. Put a wooden bead onto the bottom of each of the pipe cleaner legs to be feet.
Step 3
Form a circle and twist the pipe cleaner ends together, leaving a 1 ¾” gap between the end beads. Fold another small piece of pipe cleaner in half and add it to the circle, twisting as before to form one more body. Add beads to this new body, and modify the beaded feet positions and lengths to balance the circle.
Step 4
Download and print the templates onto colored paper and cut out. You can also transfer the templates onto a blank paper and draw your own animal faces. Cut bright colored paper into chick beaks and bunny bows. Use crepe paper or felt to make the ponchos. Cut out the poncho shapes and fold them in half, then in half again, and snip the folded corner off to create the neck hole in the center of the poncho.
Step 5
Take each pair of head shapes and glue them together, leaving the bottom open for now. Put the ponchos onto each pipe cleaner neck and glue them onto the pipe cleaner arms. Slide each pipe cleaner neck into the paper heads and glue to secure. Decorate the bunny boys by gluing on bow ties and add hair bows onto the bunny girls. Fold the chick beak shapes in half and glue each bottom half onto a chick face.
That’s it! Now, these charming bunnies and chicks are ready to dance! Place a candle, a tiny vase with flowers, or an Easter egg in the center of the circle, and enjoy their Easter dance.
Happy Easter!
