Put a new spin on flower crowns by making paper vine crowns instead! In our latest project from our craft series collab with Monica of Lavin Label, we made these simple white vine crowns. These minimalist crowns are perfect for garden parties, barbeques, or any day of the week! Though they may be simple, you can style them in so many ways – Monica wore hers across her forehead 1970’s style while Charlotte twisted hers into a tall spiral.
Not only are these great crowns, make some extra vines and style them as garlands too! The shapes are so simple to cut that they’ll take a fraction of the time that other complex floral crowns require. We used white paper for these crowns, but choose paper to suit the occasion! You could even paint the paper in playful patterns before turning them into crowns. Either way, we’re sure they’ll be a big hit.
What you need
- White butcher paper
- Floral wire
- Scissors
- White duct tape
- Mod Podge
- Paintbrush
how-to
Step 1
Cut a piece of blank white butcher paper about 1 yard long by 4″ wide. Unroll about 1 yard of floral wire and lay it overtop of the strip of butcher paper.
Step 2
Apply a long piece of white tape over the wire, securing it to the paper. You should now have a giant twist-tie.
Step 3
Apply a coat of Mod Podge onto the paper side of the twist-tie to seal the paper and give it a nice glossy finish. Let dry completely.
Step 4
Use scissors to cut out a leafy pattern from the paper, basically cutting curves into the edge to make a long vine.
Step 5
Twist the wire into a spiral crown like Charlotte’s wearing, or wrap around your head and twist the tails to secure like Monica did.
