We love Polkaros!! When we stumbled upon this adorable online shop, we knew right away that we struck gold. This super colorful and playful shop was started by Tokyo-based designer Ros Lee. Born in Singapore, she grew up helping out around her family’s clay studio before moving to Japan to study design. In 2011 Lee started her own shop, Polkaros, a lifestyle brand inspired by traditional Japanese crafts and zakka. (Zakka is a growing trend in Japan and the rest of Asia that aims to add beauty to everyday household objects.) Each piece is made by hand so no two pieces are exactly alike! They’re all so cute that it was tough to narrow it down, but we’ve rounded up twelve of our ultimate favorites below!

Sakai – “Sakai is preppy and neat at all times.”

This diamond-patterned pot is part of Polkaros’s ‘Kokeshi’ series, inspired by traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls.

Sakasu –“Sakasu loves carnivals.”

This adorable spattered piece can be used to pot small succulents or as a vase for flowers. Either way, we’re sure it’ll brighten up your day!!

Hanako –“Flowers bloom when Hanako smiles.”

This pot is another piece from the ‘Kokeshi’ series. This particular piece has two different expressions, one of the front and another on the back. We like the idea of turning it around to suit our mood!

Chic – “Chic is a fan of monochrome and classic designs”

This thoughtful-looking pot may seem a bit serious, but we’re sure that a few colorful flowers will cheer her right up!

Riku –“Riku practices martial arts in the day and paints by the night.”

Each piece in the “Kokeshi” series was hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel and hand painted in the Polkaros studio in Japan.

Kiji –“Kiji loves colors and all kinds of patterns.”

What a peaceful little face! This sweet pot is from the ‘Ichirinzashi’ series, which means ‘single flower vase’ in Japanese.

Mini Polkadot Fuji-san Brooch – This adorable made-to-order pin is a miniature version of Polkaros’s Fuji-san pot. Put a tiny flower in the top and you’ll be able to bring a mini vase with you wherever you go!

Lowa –“Lowa is one with the earth.”

Another pot from the ‘Kokeshi’ series, we love the combination of colors, shapes, and spatter detail on this little fellow.

Kai –“Kai was born in a dance troupe, and is free-spirited.”

The colorful brushstrokes on this pot are so cheerful and remind us of ribbons blowing in the breeze.

Taro –“Taro wants to make an earnest living.” 

This striped cutie is another single flower vase – he almost looks like a big top tent at the circus, don’t you think?

Mina –“Minä loves dressing up.”

Mina has got to be our favorite of the bunch, but don’t tell the others! ;)

Yuki Dish –“Yuki is a culinary expert!”

We love the thought of eating little snacks off of this side plate to discover sweet Yuki looking up at you once you’ve finished your snack!!
