Get ready to wish upon a shooting star with this easy printable project! It starts with a bit of coloring and ends with streamer ribbons flying behind a scattering of stars. It also combines crafting with going outside to run, spin and dance with these shooting stars.
Once these fliers are finished, kids can grab the loop of ribbon and send these stars shooting through the air and flying behind them. You could use them as accessories for dance parties. Or encourage kids to follow movement directions, waving the shooting stars to the right or left, high in the air, or in circles.
For shooting stars that don’t require too much exercise, hang your finished project near an open window to watch a breeze catch the ribbons and make them fly!
what you need:
- Card stock – white and a color (the color is optional)
- Colored pencils, crayons or markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Ribbon
- Printable shooting stars sheet
how-to:
Step 1
Print the Shooting Stars PDF file onto white card stock. Choose one or more of the designs and start coloring. You could even go a little crazy and add some glitter!
Step 2
Cut out around the circle(s) you colored. Next cut a second circle from the colorful card stock. This one should be just a little larger than the first if you want to see some of the color peeking out.
Step 3
Cut some pieces of ribbon that are 12-18 inches long. Cut one piece of ribbon that’s about 8 inches long. Fold this shorter piece in half.
Place some glue on the top edge of the back circle. Attach the folded piece of ribbon to the glue, forming a loop. Place some glue on the lower edge of the back circle and attach the other ribbon pieces.
Step 4
Rub glue on the back of the front circle and attach it to the back circle. The ribbons will be sandwiched in-between.
If it’s easier for you, double-sided tape also works for holding the ribbons between the layers.
Now, take your shooting stars for spin through the sky! And while it’s possible to fling these stars to make them fly, hold onto that loop and they’ll soar so much better.
Happy crafting!
