We love nothing more than flipping through a great magazine and getting inspired – and our kids do too! Take a break from screens and read these awesome publications instead! Kids love getting fun goodies in the mail, so a subscription to any of these magazines is just the ticket. These also make perfect stocking stuffers (the holidays are only a few months away!!) and are a great way to get your kids reading something new. We’re all about fun crafts and tasty recipes, so bonus points if you end up crafting and cooking with these mags by you side!
Bravery Magazine
We just learned about Bravery Magazine and are already huge fans. Aimed at girls and boys aged 4-9, Bravery features strong female role models for everyone to look up to. Each issue of the quarterly magazine focuses on a brave woman and shares details about her life, work, and contributions through illustrations, DIYs, educational activities, and stories. Their first issue is all about Jane Goodall! The magazine has just reached its goal on Kickstarter – hooray! Make a pledge yourself so that you can receive an early bird copy in October.
Family Fun
One of our all-time favorites, Family Fun is chock full of DIY ideas, fun crafts, and creative activities to make for and with your kids. This summer they shared a super fun Craft Camp online with their readers – summer may almost be over, but we’re in love with all the crafts they shared. Download the free e-book here!
Anorak
This “happy mag for kids” is for kids aged 6 to 12 and encourages them to use imagination and creativity to learn and grow. Printed on recycled paper with vegetable ink, every single issue of Anorak is a collectible that you’ll want to keep on your shelf alongside all your favorite books.
Kazoo
This quarterly magazine for girls aged 5 to 10 is all about being strong, smart, fierce, and true to yourself. Their stories are inspired by the top female artists, explorers, chefs, athletes, scientists, writers, and activists and every issue features comics, art projects, recipes, interviews, and and fun activities!
ChopChop
ChopChop is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to inspire and teach families and kids to cook REAL food together. This quarterly magazine is available in both English and Spanish and provides nutritious, tasty, ethnically diverse, and affordable recipes alongside interesting food facts and games. We’re hungry already!
Lunch Lady
We’re big fans of this colorful and playful magazine from Australia! Lunch Lady emphasizes a balanced approach to family life and not taking yourself too seriously. Each issue includes recipes (for kids and grown-ups!), family stories, art, photography, and funny opinion pieces. We love their approach to life and super fun designs – we even turned one of our favorite copies into these fun DIY hair ties!
