Has anyone else been falling in love with llamas lately? We can’t get over how happy and cuddly they look! Today we’re combining our love of llamas with one of our favorite versatile craft supplies: paper plates! Once we assembled all the blank llamas, we grabbed a few shades of Delta Ceramcoat® Acrylic Paint and got creative. All 22 shades and six brand new Flash Metallic shades are available in the craft aisle at Target.
We especially love the coverage from Delta Ceramcoat paints. The matte formula is so rich and creamy and covers wood, terracotta, plaster, and paper with no problem at all. We always seem to have a huge pile of extra paper plates around, but if you don’t already have them on hand, make sure to grab a pack or two from Target when you’re picking out your shades of Delta Ceramcoat paint. Grab paper plates in a couple of different sizes to make a variety of llamas, both big and small.
what you need:
- Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrushes
- White paper plates
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Hot glue gun
how-to:
Step 1
Cut your paper plate in half. One half will be for the body, and the other half is for the head, legs, and tail. First, use the pencil to draw a simple llama neck and head along the cut edge of the paper plate as shown.
Step 2
Cut out the head and use the remaining paper plate scrap to cut out four legs and a tail. The legs are just rectangles with rounded ends, and the tail is a small raindrop shape.
Step 3
Use the hot glue gun to assemble the llama, gluing the head, legs, and tail onto the back of the body.
Step 4
Time for the fun part – pick out a few shades of Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint and apply onto the llama to make a face, ear details, a blanket for it’s back, and even a collar if you like. Let dry.
Repeat and make lots of llamas! Use washi tape to stick them onto the wall for fun party decorations or even glue a popsicle stick to the back and use it as a fun puppet.
You can find Delta Ceramcoat® Acrylic Paint in 22 colors and six new Flash Metallic colors at Target in the craft aisle or online at Target.com. We think these llamas would be extra cute with metallic bells and tassels too!
Happy crafting!
