A penny saved is a penny earned – and saving has never been more fun than with these rainbow-hued sequin piggy banks! Give empty chip tubes and cardboard food cartons a whole new life – it’s so easy and fun to decorate them however you like. We, of course, used all our favorite sequins and patterned paper from Kid Made Modern. We had the best time spreading out the sequins and organizing them by color into a craft rainbow. We mixed and matched them on each of these piggy banks – the big stripey one was especially fun to do with the mosaic-style pattern.

If your kids are saving up for something special, these DIY piggy banks are just what they need! Make a few for different saving goals (movie tickets, a new toy, whatever it is!) and you can even make custom labels for each one to keep them organized. The alphabet beads in the Arts and Crafts Supply Library would be the perfect way to spell out the goal on the lid! We used containers with easy removable lids, but you can of course seal the lid on for now with some tape to remove any temptation of taking pennies back out! Step 1
Start by gathering up a few empty chip tubes with lids. You can use any container with this sort of shape: cartons for oatmeal, breadcrumbs, etc are great too and even bigger for more ambitious savers! :) Wipe out the inside of the tube with a damp cloth. Pick out the paper you want to cover the tube with – we picked this super fun grid! Cut to fit the height of the tube and use glue to attach it in place, wrapping it around the tube completely.

Step 2
Time to get bedazzling! Gather up your sequins – it can help to pour them into a bowl (or like we did, the empty lid of the tube) so that you can spread them out a little bit to pick out exactly which ones you need. For this piggy bank, we used the smallest round sequins and glued one onto each triangle segment.

Step 3
While the sequins and glue dry, use a craft knife to carefully cut a slot into the top of the plastic lid – make sure to do this on a scrap of cardboard or a cutting mat so that you don’t damage your work surface. Place the lid onto the tube and voila!

Step 4
