how-to:
For each ornament, cut out a front and two matching back pieces from colorful felt. Cut out one rectangle for the hanger. To make this Advent calendar, we chose five colors of felt for the baubles and cut five ornaments from each color.
Embroider a face on the front piece for each ornament. Thread a needle with six strands of floss black embroidery floss. Stitch the eyes with French knots and the mouth with a scallop stitch. You can mark the pattern with a pencil or just freehand it…it will always come out cute!
Fold the rectangle piece in half and place it at the top of the ornament and then layer the two half pieces on top.You can do this either way, but we placed the top half first, then the bottom half. The edges should overlap a little.
Pinning or clipping these together as you move on to the next step is helpful. We used Wonder Clips for sewing.
Cut a piece of embroidery floss to match your felt and divide it to work with three strands. Thread your needle and tie a knot at the other end.Stitch around the bauble. Make sure you sew through the hanger piece as well.
Now repeat those steps to make all your felt ornament pouches!
With all your Christmas baubles finished, it’s time to fill them with fun surprises.
You can also hang the bauble pouches on string as a garland! Leave them on the string as you remove the contents from an ornament each day in December. The garland will look cute, even as you empty the felt pouches.
Happy crafting!
