With long and slow manual work, without using scissors, glue or colors, Ivano Vitali twists strips of torn newsprint tightly, making very long threads, and then winds them into giant balls of yarn. With giant knitting needles, a variety of crochet hooks and a vertical loom that he built himself using natural, non-treated wood, he weaves large tapestries and wearable art, each work bearing the colors and text of the newsprint pages used to make the yarn.
Equally sculptor and performance artist, all of this is done involving the people who are present at his exhibitions. What an amazing experience that must be!
