Super Cool Artwear for Kids

Fun-and-Fashionable---Color-In-Monkies-Trainers-from-France

Picasso claimed that every child is an artist, and I’m sure that we all do our utmost as parents to encourage our kids’ creativity and help develop their imagination. Art is one of the things that makes me tick, so I’m delighted that my three children share this true passion (one of them is hoping to become an illustrator), which brings me to the subject of today’s post: artwear for kids.

Have you noticed all those beautiful doodles, scribbles, and splashes of paint popping up in children’s fashion this spring? I have, and I love the invitation to create coming from small-scale Etsy sellers and well-established international brands alike. I hope you’ll be inspired by this selection of art-themed kids’ wear that recently caught my eye.

Clothes To Play By Giokit

Clothes To Play
available for $74 from Giokit

Giokit is onto a winner. Founded by two creative moms, this fledgling Italian brand allows kids to color and customize their own clothing, including dresses, shirts, tees, and sweatshirts, all of which come with 6 washable markers. Let the fun begin!

Scribbles Leggings By Double Yellow Line on Etsy

Scribbles Leggings
Available for $35 from Double Yellow Line on Etsy

There’s so much to like about Double Yellow Line’s designs. I am smitten with this Montreal-based brand. Silkscreened with nontoxic water-based ink on locally produced organic cotton, those original, eye-catching scribbles are fun and uplifting! Check out Chantale’s website; it’s chock-full of inspiring modern garments for babies and older kids alike.

Splash-Dyed Hand-Painted Hoodie By Two String Jane

Splash-Dyed Baby’s Hoodie

Ready for an explosion of color? How does a rainbow splash-dyed hoodie sound? Or a Spectrum Rainbow onesie? Pretty cool, eh?… Two String Jane’s designs are creative and original, and they’re printed with eco-friendly, non-fade, nontoxic inks. Fun!

Hand-painted Floral Dress By Marie Et Rose Alice

Hand-Painted Floral Dress
Available starting at $180 from Marie et Rose-Alice

If you are looking for something a little more sophisticated but still original, some of my favorite small European brands have some very striking hand-painted clothes and accessories. Take a peek at Mari et Rose-Alice’s new Spring/Summer collection. I love the big, bold flower design, in color and in black & white, hand-painted on 100% cotton.

Hand-Painted Clothes By Efvva

Hand-Painted Clothes Inspired By René Magritte
Available from Efvva

Ewa is the queen of hand-painted children’s clothes and accessories. I have been following her from the outset and love her tremendous imagination and eye for color. Each new collection is inspired by a painter, and she has chosen René Magritte for her Spring/Summer 2014 Dream collection. I love everything about it, including the styling by PinkWings!

Pictured at the top of this post: The French brand Monkies has some pretty cool shoes for your kids to draw on. The company aims to “make kids happy” and wants to see its “shoes up and having fun.” Each shoe kit includes a pair of Monkies trainers, 7 magical pens, a sponge, and a lookbook. Be creative—customize and color-in, time and time again. Your kids are going to love you for saying yes to these! The full kit is available for $82 from Monkies.
