Every year around Mother’s Day, I start getting the urge to hit up the local nursery and think about what we’re going to plant this season. Our neighborhood groundhog enjoyed the veggie garden last year, so maybe we’ll see if he likes wildflowers! One of our grandmas enjoys yard work, so we generally choose something to plant for Mother’s Day, but sometimes go the gift card route, so she can enjoy shopping as well. Since Grandmas also enjoy personal gifts, these DIY seed packet gift card holders are a special way to present something handmade along with the card.

Teacher appreciation is coming up as well, and a gift card in a seed packet is a great way to say “Thanks for helping me grow!” You could also create a seed packet for a favorite flower, fruit or veggie, and place actual seeds in the handmade envelope. It would be amazing to make all different seed envelopes, and present moms, grandmas and teachers with a berry box full of the handmade packets! Get started with these strawberries and carrots, and make some strawberry cupcake toppers to go on Mother’s Day dessert, or this strawberry lantern for a fun decoration!

Stamp the name of your fruit, vegetable, or flower seed on the front and top of your white envelope.

Cut various fruits and vegetables or flowers out of streamers folded into several layers. We did simple strawberries and carrots by cutting bulbous heart shapes out of red and pink, and rounded, skinny triangles out of peach and orange. Cut stems using two layered shades of green.

Lay your streamer fruit and veggie design out on an envelope, and then glue down the pieces once you are happy with the layout. Allow to dry.
