Recently, I had the privilege of crafting with an amazing group of kids at a school in Costa Rica. My takeaway? The international language of craft has no borders:)
Costa Rica, as seen through the lens of my iPhone from my window on the airplane (taken with my new favorite camera app).
When the Four Seasons invited me to visit their new resort in Costa Rica, I jumped at the opportunity. Made from a mix of stone, wood, bamboo, and rattan, the resort looks as though it naturally arose from the beautiful little peninsula where it sits. Private beaches, miles of nature trails, scuba diving, zip-lining… the once-in-a-lifetime amenities they offer are practically endless. Just take a look at the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica website and see for yourself!
Amenities aside, the highlight of the trip definitely had to be the visit to a local school that the resort pre-arranged for a day of crafting with the kids. My Spanish is hardly fluent, but that didn’t stop the kids and I from having hours of fun making crafts together.
Since I had to travel with the craft supplies, I kept it light: stencils, muslin bags, a dozen or so simple wooden bracelets I picked up in the garment district in NYC last summer, and some yarn for making pom-poms. Most of the children ended up making Christmas gifts for their mothers—how sweet is that?
All in all, it was an amazing trip I won’t soon forget. A big thanks to my friends at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica for making it possible!
