Are you a big sports fan? For the next game, why not decorate regular cupcakes with these DIY miniature pom poms? You really only need tissue paper in your favorite team’s colors, toothpicks, and tape to make these cheerful toppers.

I also used some foil-wrapped chocolate footballs and paper triangles for decorations. If you’ve got a few minutes, try printing your team’s logo onto the paper triangles for even more team spirit. Sports lover or not, doesn’t everyone love a good cupcake?

• Ruler
• Tissue paper (two colors)
• Toothpicks
• White washi tape
• Scissors

Step 1
Each pom pom needs two pieces of tissue 3” by 5” each.

Step 2
Fold the rectangles in half lengthwise and use scissors to fringe the edge.

Step 3
Open up the two rectangles and lay them on top of each other.

Step 4
Roll the tissues together, and then twist slightly so that you end up with something like this.

Step 5
Fold in half and use washi tape to secure – it should look kind of like a tassel.

Step 6
Insert a toothpick into the base of the tissue pom pom under the washi tape. Fluff the tissue fringe to look more like a pom pom. Repeat! Put onto cupcakes with foil-wrapped chocolate footballs and paper triangles taped onto toothpicks.
