Who knew that popsicle in your freezer could be the canvas for your next masterpiece? Delicious, nutritious, and so cute to look at – they’re the yummiest ways to unleash your inner artist!
I’ve always said (and I’m sure I’ll say it again) that I have a very hard time distinguishing between the kitchen and the art studio. When we first started making these delicious Coconut Popsicles, I looked at them and all I could see were blank canvases! As I was wracking my brain, trying to figure out the best way to turn these little treats into something more creative, I thought that it would really be a shame to add any thing artificial. After playing around a bit with different ingredients, we quickly noticed that concentrated fruit juices work wonders as watercolor popsicle paints. Cute, colorful, and endlessly creative – I can’t wait for you to see (and taste) them for yourself!
What You Need
For Coconut Popsicles
- 6 oz. coconut milk (170 grams)
- 3 oz. heavy cream* (85 grams)
- 2 – 3 tablespoon maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
For Natural Watercolor Popsicle Paint
- 1/4 cup colorful berries (we used blueberries, raspberries and mango)
- 2-3 tablespoon water
*if you are dairy free, substitute coconut milk
How-To
Step 1
Place the berries and water together in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Once the berries have broken down, it’s time to stain the mixture. Place the berry mixture into a sieve over a wide bowl. Using a spoon, press the berries down into the sieve to drain and capture the juice.
Step 2
Once you have the desired amount of juice, it’s time to paint! Dip paint brushes into your new watercolors and use them to put all those crazy creative ideas floating around in your head onto your popsicle.
Step 3
The patterns set quickly! Once you’re satisfied with your painting, place them on either baking or waxed paper and return them to them to quickly return them to the freezer until ready to serve. Cover if not be eaten within a few hours.
Have fun creating (and devouring) these deliriously delicious treats!
