Mmmm…. mums! You’ll fall in love with these colorful, bite-sized mum cookies. Not just because they’re beautiful, but because they’re no-bake and super easy to make. The hardest part is stopping yourself from snacking on the sunflower seeds as you assemble them.
Is it just me, or are there like a BILLION Halloween recipes out right now? Don’t get me wrong, I love Halloween too. But how many times between now and October 31 are you going to be able to serve spider cookies and Frankenstein cupcakes? Yeah, I thought so.
In fact, my daughter’s school now has a Fall Celebration instead of a Halloween party. So I’m thinking these fall mum cookies will make some little mouths very happy. And while I’m at it, I’ll probably take a plate of them to work. Now that I think about it, a bright bouquet of them on the table at Thanksgiving would be pretty sweet too.
What You Need
- White frosting (homemade or store-bought)
- Food coloring (colors that match your chocolate-covered sunflowers)
- Regular and mini-sized Nilla Wafer cookies
- M&M candies (assorted fall colors)
- Chocolate-covered sunflower seeds (assorted fall colors)
I found my chocolate-covered sunflower seeds at a local bulk candy store, but I’ve also seen them at Whole Foods and online.
Step 1
Put equal amounts of white frosting into cups or bowls and tint with food coloring to match the colors of your chocolate-covered sunflowers.
Step 2
Frost regular and mini-sized Nilla Wafer cookies with the tinted frostings.
Step 3
Decorate with M&M candies and chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. Start by placing an M&M in the middle and fan the seeds outward to look like the petals of a cushion mum. The smaller cookies do not need an M&M in the center.
Step 4
Mix and match whatever colors you like to make an assortment of of colorful, edible mums.
Happy fall y’all. Enjoy every last, delicious, colorful bite!
