Let’s celebrate life, colors, and nature by making fresh flower jewelry before the summer’s over! I love the idea of wearable flowers, pom-poms, and beads—and what better way to bring them all together than using dragonflies? Dragonflies are one of my favorite things about summer, and the tiny blooms peaking over the top on this necklace always brightens my day. Who wouldn’t want a flower vase necklace to keep them company and send them sweet scents throughout the day?
You don’t need any prior sewing knowledge for this project; just have fun!

- Sewing thread
- Beads & sequins
- Pom-poms
- Gold tinsel cord
- Gold poly ribbon

How-To
Step 1
Download, print, and cut out dragonfly templates. Transfer body templates to leather, wings to ribbon, and cut them all out.
Step 2
Stitch a bead and sequin together on the top of the front side of the body piece to make each dragonfly eye. Then sew some horizontal lines using a back stitch onto the middle of the body. Take the small wings and lay them centered onto the other front body piece, then lay the big wings with the backside out on top. Sew these three pieces together.
Step 3
Cut about 27” (79 cm) of gold cord and thread it. Lay body leather pieces rough side facing rough side, align, and start sewing them together following the templates to make a little bag, leaving a long strand of cord on the end to go around your neck. Once you’ve finished sewing, tie a knot to the hanging cord and thread some beads. Tie another knot to fix beads in place. Do the same with one or more beads at the other end of the cord. Knot the seams of the dragonfly, tying both ends of the cord when you’re finished.
Step 4.1
Pass a needle with a knotted thread through a pom-pom making sure the knot gets attached, then thread some tiny beads and stitch to the dragonfly bottom. For the second pom-pom pendant, pass the needle through the last bead, as shown in the images, and start threading beads. Then stitch a pom-pom to finish the double pom-pom pendant. Repeat this process to make the second double pom-pom pendant.
Step 4.2
Add more pom-poms and tie some colored cords if you want to add more happiness onto your necklace!
Step 5
Pick some beautiful flowers, sprouts, or blooms, and add them to your new dragonfly vase necklace!!
Look how happy this dragonfly is with its fresh flowers. Enjoy the perfume and go out for a beautiful walk!
